The landscape of Arruda dos Vinhos is strongly influenced by the longstanding viticulture and winemaking traditions of this village, located in the Lisbon District. Hence, the valorization of the Landscape is considered as a key element in strategy to strengthen the village’s position in the West Region network of wine-related activities and businesses, to develop the local economy. 

The park is designed for people, both residents and visitors. Taking advantage of its strategic position, it is proposed that it serves as starting and ending point of the main existing routes, such as the “Oeste Vineyard and Wine Routes” and the “Oeste Museums Route”, and also as an events venue, encouraging visitors to prolong their stay in Arruda dos Vinhos and enjoy all it has to offer. 

The guidelines for the park project design were: create a mix of passive and active recreation opportunities outdoors, facilitate intergenerational contact, stimulate physical activities and fitness, offer a relaxing environment to unwind from urban stress, environmental and social recovery of a forgotten space, promote the village's attractiveness to visitors, connect different areas of the village (centre, expansion area, production area) with the riverside.
